Faceless Women Trilogy: 1
*Harvest*
Pencil on Paper, 640 x 900 mm, 2009

This piece was inspired by the Hmong tribes of South East Asia. The women have different roles and contributions towards the harvest of rice crops but are working in unison for the society.
For all the pieces in Faceless women trilogy, I focused on female activities for the society they belong to, seen especially in traditional environments such as weaving and child-bearing/raising. I also created a trilogy of tapestry-like illustration. I left the women's faces blank in order to show the females of the society working together as one in unison... in a way it's a lack of identity but that's how female is considered in some societies in history I believe.
