I created this piece inspired by a phrase in W.B.Yeats' poem "The Gyres" which goes,
What matter? Out of cavern comes a voice,

And all it knows is that one word 'Rejoice!'

The women is the piece are of an indigenous tribe somewhere in South East Asia. They have noticed a voice coming out of the cavern and are now looking deep into the cavern. They are curious to find out where the voice is coming from, but at the same time skeptical to everything that comes from outside their own community.

I think this represents the reaction of people in general when they encounter anything new no matter what their surroundings or cultural backgrounds are. Even though the women in this piece look like like they live in an isolated part of the world possibly in history, I can still feel close to them by heart.
