This is an illustrated typography piece.

The creation of this piece was heavily inspired by traditional patterns and textiles of Africa.

The patterns found in tools still heavily used by the people of Africa such as woven baskets and fabric quite often feature abstract elements. I was drawn to these abstract elements especially triangles and created this piece which consists of numerous layers of irregular triangles.

I chose the phrase which capture the beauty of the shape triangle to reside within the irregular triangles.

So far, I have created two versions of this piece (Colour & B/W), however, I intend to create one more version of this piece to realise a set of three pieces that represents the phrase "Art With 3 Sides".

The colour version of this was created by layering scanned colour swatch created using colour pencils. I used this method in order to leave a hand-drawn feel to the viewers of this piece.
