Faceless Women Trilogy: 3

*Llama Groom*

 Pencil on Paper, 640 x 900 mm, 2009

This piece is set in a community in the Andes. The two women at the top are maidens who are to be the mothers of the llamas in the eggs. The eggs lie in a nest placed in the middle and the maidens are playing a lullaby for their unborn babies. The other women are the mothers of the baby llamas they're carrying on their backs. The mothers are supporting the maidens to enter motherhood, like the older generation did for them.

I drew this piece with a number of pencils with different strength and thickness. The piece was exhibited in the University of Brighton Degree Show/09 at University of Brighton along with other pieces of Faceless Women Trilogy.
